Jules Rizzo
Jules Rizzo is an Ohio-based dancer and choreographer. She is a recent graduate of Denison University, where she studied Dance and English with a concentration in Creative Writing.
During her time at Denison, she became a TA for the Dance Department, as well as working as a Dance Department Fellow, where she acted as a liaison between faculty and students.
Jules spent the Summer of 2023 working directly under Sara Lawrence-Sucato from Dancing Wheels Company in Cleveland, Ohio, which is the nation’s first physically integrated dance company. During her time there, she was able to train with both company and community members, as well as teach classes and co-lead outreach programs in the Cleveland area. She also received a Level 1 Physically Integrated Dance Teacher Certification from Dancing Wheels.
Before her time at Dancing Wheels, Jules spent the Spring Semester of 2023 in Tokyo, Japan. There, she had the incredible opportunity of taking classes at En Dance Studio in Shibuya, Tokyo, where she focused on the styles of contemporary and jazz.

Level 1 Physically Integrated Dance Teacher Certification
I trained with Dancing Wheels Company in Cleveland, Ohio, and received this certification.
With this certification, I am able to apply my knowledge to instruct students of all abilities using the Dancing Wheels methodology, focusing on inclusivity in a dance classroom using movement translations, integrated dance terminology and protocols, and have a working knowledge of manual wheelchair mechanics and safety.

I received this scholarship from Denison University in the Spring of 2023 for excellence in dance and involvement on campus as a Dance Department Fellow.
